Things to know before you book

From about November 15 until around March 15, we can receive snow ranging from a dusting to over one foot deep at our 3220' elevation.  Check out the snow pictures below.  To ensure the best guest experience possible, please be aware of the following:

• Between Nov 15/March 15, all guests MUST call/text us BY THE MORNING OF ARRIVAL for updates regarding the main and guest driveway conditions.  Failure to contact us/respond may result in not being able to provide guest access or compromise any possible refund specifically for lack of access due to snow.
• Access to our place is via Old Highway 99 S (also known as Old Siskiyou Highway or State Highway 273).  This road is maintained by ODOT (Oregon Dept of Transportation) and plowed regularly during snow season (severe storms can cause ODOT to divert plows to freeway/major state highway clearing).  Call/text us for the latest Old Highway 99 S road conditions.
• Upon arriving at our address, DO NOT proceed if ANY snow exists on our driveway (regardless of your vehicle type/tires or winter driving experience).  Instead, park at the highway and call/text us for guest access, parking arrangements, luggage, etc.
• Please note that the main and guest driveways are steep and snow on these driveways will immediately turn to ice once driven on.  It is imperative that guests NOT attempt to drive on our driveway if snowy, even if it looks passable or you have 4WD/AWD.  We have no capability to recover your vehicle should you become stuck on our property and all guests are responsible for any property damage and/or 3rd party tow charges.
• Once you park at the highway, we require that you call/text us immediately, as there is limited space where our driveway meets the highway and your vehicle may be blocking us in, or blocking us from  getting to our home.  We will arrange parking on or near our property and, driveway conditions permitting -- even with our 4WD/AWD, studded tires and chains we have to occasionally "park at the bottom" during severe storms -- arrange guest and luggage transportation to the guest entrance.  
• In the event it snows AFTER you're inside and enjoying your stay, DO NOT attempt to exit up the snowy guest driveway, which is steep.  Call/text us to arrange clearing of the guest driveway if possible and/or driving your vehicle to the highway.  As noted above, all guests are responsible for any property damage and/or 3rd party tow charges.   Also, upon entering, all guests hold us harmless from any occupation/financial hardships caused in the event they are "snowed in" for any period.
• If snowy conditions prevent you from safely arriving at our address, or you are snowed in after arriving, at our discretion we will offer a full or partial refund of your stay, less the cleaning fee if necessary.
• Once you are here, we invite you to enjoy the snowy landscape with sledding (2 saucers available on request), snowman or snow fort building, a gentle snowball fight or making snow angels!

As of November 1, 2024:

• Adding decorative railing cable under the hand-planed, sanded solid-wood railings on the brand-new cedar steps from the parking area to deck, and related deck trim.  Already installed is an ADA ramp and safe temporary railing for guest access.
• Some planned parking area/driveway improvements, and rockwork between the grounds and gravel parking area.  In the meantime, we ask all guests to stay on the gravel and wood to avoid muddy soil.
