Experience Siskiyou Mountain Place

Siskiyou Mountain Place is located southeast of Ashland, Oregon, right where the north-south Cascade Mountain range and the east-west Siskiyou Mountains meet. In the summer, there is a cool southeast breeze that keeps our property about 10-15 degrees cooler than Medford and the valley floor. In the winter, this breeze reverses and comes in northwesterly over the Cascade/Siskiyou gap. At 3220’ elevation, we may receive snow anytime between November 15th and April 1, though some years there is little snow and in others the snow falls occasionally until early May. Our property is served by a state highway, and ODOT maintains it year-round. The property is outside the Ashland city limits, so police, fire and other services are provided by Jackson County. 

Medford, about 20 miles north of us, is the county seat of Jackson County, and has all the services available of a small metropolitan area of approximately 221,000 people overall. Major retailers include Lowes, Home Depot, Wal-Mart, Safeway/Alberstons, Target/CVS, Walgreens, Fred Meyer, Macy’s/Kohl’s/JC Penney, Harry and David, Chipotle, and Costco. The Medford Rogue Valley International airport is 27 miles north. 

Crater Lake and nearby Diamond and Lemolo Lakes are about 90 miles northeast.  Closer are mountain lakes, including Fish Lake and Lake of the Woods on Hwy 140.  The magnificent Oregon coast and miles of beaches are 3 hours away via Highways 199 west of Grants Pass and Hwy 42 southwest of Roseburg.  

Ashland and the surrounding area is a destination market for many reasons. This market is enhanced by the following: Oregon Shakespeare Festival, many vineyards, wineries and wine tours, Crater Lake, Lithia Park, established Ashland and Jackson county venues such as First Friday Art Walk, Lithia Artisans Market, Festival of Light, Fourth of July parade, Halloween Celebration, Britt Festival (Jacksonville and Expo Center), Pear Blossom Run, Southern Oregon car shows, Rogue Opera and Symphony, theatres such as Craterian, Camelot, Holly and Oregon Cabaret, Rogue River activities, hiking/boating and weather permitting, Mt Ashland Ski Area events. Ashland is also home to Southern Oregon University.
